The Peer Program Coordinator is responsible for providing a range of information, education and peer support strategies for people living with HIV (PLHIV). Working in collaboration within the Peer Outreach Team and with other Body Positive Staff and Volunteers, other agencies, service providers and health care organizations and under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Peer Program Coordinator will perform a wide range of program duties to build individuals knowledge, resilience, independence and social inclusion through individual support, navigation and referral service, along with group programs. The Peer Program Coordinator is based in Auckland but will provide National coordination and support for our Peer Support and volunteer programs.

The Peer Program Coordinator is responsible for keeping up to date with information pertaining to HIV treatments, new and emerging research and social issues for PLHIV (eg, disclosure, travel, employment, migration, insurance). An understanding of the evidence and clear dissemination of information regarding Treatment as Prevention, Undetectable Viral Load, PrEP and PEP is also an essential element of the Peer Program Coordinator role.

The Peer Program Coordinator primary role is ensuring that the Peer program provides a reliable, consistent and professional service across the country with appropriate evaluation and supervision. The coordination component is key to this role.
